1. Stop propulsion, rotation, and cooling water when reaching drill pipe connection depth
2. Operate fast backward handle to return chuck to position
3. Reverse gyrator while retreating feed oil cylinder to rotate water braid shaft away
4. Clamp drill pipe with gripper and open micro regulating flow valve
5. Connect new drill pipe while rotator moves forward and rotates
6. Loosen gripper when threads engage to complete connection
